The most beautiful luxury hotels in Las Vegas with top buffets

There are only a few cities where the travel trends of the last 30 years can be seen as clearly as in Las Vegas. In particular, the change away from family and party holidays to luxury holidays is wonderfully evident here.

Whereas in the 90s one theme hotel after the other was built, in the 2000s the expensive, but at first glance somewhat inconspicuous upper-class hotels followed. One of these still quite young luxury hotels is the Wynn - and it is also by far the most beautiful of its kind...

The Hotels

The Wynn, completed in 2005, is located a short distance north of the Strip centre. Right next to the Wynn is the Encore, which looks very similar to the Wynn on the outside, although strictly speaking it is a separate hotel.

However, since the differences are minimal, people usually only talk about the Wynn - just as they like to leave The Signature out of the MGM Grand.

The location of the hotel is basically good, even if you are already quite far north of the Strip: While The Palazzo and The Venetian are connected to the south, there is not a single large hotel to the north on this side of the street.

And opposite, it also looks rather desolate at the moment: Next to the Fashion Show, a large shopping mall, you come across a resort under construction that, after countless postponements over the last ten years, is finally due for completion in 2020.

Long story short: the location of the Wynn is not bad, but it takes a while to get to Paris or even New York-New York on foot.

Attractions

As already mentioned, Wynn and Encore are completely dedicated to luxury, so it is not surprising that the "resort" has collected countless awards. This is especially true for the restaurants, among which Wing Lei stands out with its Michelin star. But there is also plenty on offer for non-gourmets.

Shopping Mall
Behind the beautifully designed entrance with waterfalls and palm trees - a little reminiscent of The Mirage - the obligatory shopping mall awaits you, which looks really appealing here - even if as a normal mortal you hardly take a look at the price tags of the consistently high-class shops.

The entrance area of the casino at the end of the shopping mall is also well worth seeing, where you will find a (partly artificial) flower paradise with many loving details.

La Rêve
The hotel's most important show is "La Rêve - The Dream", which is remotely reminiscent of Cirque du Soleil, but largely takes place in the water. The audience sits (at a maximum distance of 12 metres!) around a huge water tank, capacity one million litres, which gives the whole thing a very special ambience.

Both the show and the theatre are well worth seeing, so if you're interested you should definitely try to get tickets. Two shows daily from Friday to Tuesday, tickets from about 115$. For the best view, you should plan on $150 (plus tax and service fee).

There are also a few rotating shows and performances, primarily by US comedians.

Wynn Buffet

Thebuffet
Don't miss the great buffet at Wynn, which has been vastly improved in recent years and now rivals Cosmopolitan and Caesars Palace.

"The Buffet at Wynn", as it is officially called, delights with its wide selection, high quality and some very creative dishes; not least the "Feta Watermelon Salad" has achieved a certain fame.

Prices are fair for what's on offer: brunch, from 7:30am to 3:30pm, costs $30 per person on weekdays and $37 on weekends. Dinner, from 3:30pm, is $44 during the week and $53 on weekends.

Construction work - or not?

For years, Wynn and Encore enjoyed the luxury of having their own golf course directly behind their hotels. But that closed in December 2017 to make way for Wynn Paradise Park - a $1.5 billion project that would feature a nearly 500-metre lagoon at its centre.

Construction had already begun, but the operators changed their minds, suddenly cancelled the "public swimming pool" and now want to reopen the golf course in 2019.

Rooms & Pools

Even though the Wynn is all about luxury, with a bit of luck you can find rooms for 250-300 euros a night at the right time. The smallest room, however, is a whopping 59 m² and the furnishings are truly grandiose. The Encore is a touch more stylish and comfortable and, of course, more expensive.

Wynn and Encore are therefore hardly recommended for families, but for those who want to treat themselves or, for example, spend their honeymoon in Las Vegas, this is exactly the right place.

The pools are even nicer than those at Bellagio and Caesars Palace.

Parking

Both hotels have their own parking garage, which - very unusually - can be accessed directly via the Strip. To avoid having to drive far across the Strip, it is best to stay on the I-15 until the Spring Mountain Road exit and then follow the self-parking signs on the Strip to the respective parking garage.

In spite of all the luxury, you will have to pay parking fees, only the first hour is free. After that, you pay $7 for up to two hours or $15 every 24 hours.

Recommended hotels in Las Vegas

  • Luxor, cheap, but nice and good, just a bit out of the way.

  • The Linq, cheapest, good hotel in the city centre

  • The Mirage, very nice classic, a "landmark".

  • Paris, upmarket, but quite cheap and very central

  • Bellagio, a touch of luxury at often relatively fair prices

  • Wynn, best choice, if it may be a little more expensive
