Luxor Hotel in Las Vegas: Pyramid, Rooms, Overnight Stays

Opened in 1993, the Luxor Hotel in Las Vegas was one of the most beautiful and largest sights in the city at the time, until it was surpassed a little later by the even more elaborate Paris and The Venetian.

But to this day, a visit to the pyramid as well as its interior is worthwhile - and even an overnight stay at the Lux or can be considered, albeit only under certain conditions...

The Luxor Las Vegas is located at the southern end of the Strip, between the Excalibur to the north and the Mandalay Bay to the south. Across the street to the east, there is no longer a hotel, as McCarran International Airport already begins at this level.

In other words, you are already quite far away from the absolute centre - up to two kilometres, to be exact.

However, visitors should not let this stop them, because the Egyptian theme is still impressive 25 years after the opening: In front of the entrance, you will find a huge sphinx and countless statues that are modelled on Ancient Egypt, but also inside, especially in the pyramid, the style is almost surprisingly consistent.

In addition, it should be emphasised that the Luxor, with its more than 4,400 rooms, is one of the largest hotels in the city and even one of the ten largest hotels in the world.

Shows & Attractions
The attraction par excellence at the Luxor is, of course, the pyramid itself - from the inside as well as the outside. At night, the Luxor Sky Beam shines from the top of the pyramid into the sky, so bright that it can supposedly even be seen from an aeroplane over Los Angeles.

Also well worth seeing are "Titanic: The Artifact Exhibition" and performances by the Blue Man Group, which once started at the Luxor and then moved to The Venetian before returning to its old home in 2015.

The hotel's once largest nightclub closed in 2017, however, and shortly afterwards was transformed into the "HyperX Esports Arena" for gaming events.

Like most large hotels in Las Vegas, the Luxor also offers its own buffet, which can of course not only be used by hotel guests. The quality of the buffet is not quite up to par with Caesars, Wynn or Cosmopolitan, but the selection is good and the setting is very coherent.

Prices are also reasonable: breakfast from 7 to 11 a.m. costs $20 on weekdays, lunch from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. only $21, while dinner from 3 to 10 p.m. costs a good $25 - that's good value! Children even get in a bit cheaper and the usual weekend surcharge is marginal at 3-5$ per person.

All in all, it's not a must, but if you want to eat cheaply in a nice atmosphere, you won't go wrong here.

Nice design with many statues.Rooms & Pools

Even though the Luxor is very worth seeing for visitors and overall a nice hotel, it is important to weigh it up with regard to possible overnight stays: The location (almost) at the south end of the Strip is not ideal if you want to explore the sights of the city without using the bus.

However, the operators are of course aware of this and so the accommodation often entices you with enormously low prices. Even in the high season, you can stay here for as little as 75 euros, including the resort fee - an almost unbeatable offer.

However, when booking, you should make sure to choose one of the slightly better furnished premium rooms - the price difference is often only 10 euros a night. The pyramid is also a much nicer place to sleep than the dull high-rise building ("Tower") behind it.

A clear plus point: the complex has four pools, which are also nicely integrated into the scenery, which is why the hotel, in combination with the mostly low prices, is ideal for families with children.

Parking

Finding a parking space is easy: the huge multi-storey car park is located directly behind the main building on Luxor Drive. The best way to get there is via Interstate 15 and Frank Sinatra Drive, but you should avoid the Strip itself if possible.

Unfortunately, there are now parking fees here too, but they are not particularly high at $10 per day. As is often the case, the first hour is free.
